Filiform Warts
Unlike other types of warts, filiform warts are not flat and rough. They don’t look like a cauliflower like other types of warts do. Instead they appear as long and slender projections. They protrude from the skin and can look like mini fingers or tentacles. Usually they appear on a person’s face most particularly around the eyes, mouth and lips. However, they are also known to sprout in the neck and under the arms.
This type of wart can be easily touched because of its location and appearance. This makes it more susceptible to irritation and infection. People who like to touch their face a lot can easily mistake it for other forms of skin irritation and may do things so that it will break and bleed. This is not a good thing since it will only cause the warts to spread to nearby parts of the face.
The good thing is, filiform warts can be easily noticed and taken care of. The most effective method is through the use of cryotheraphy which freezes the wart so that it can easily fall off. However, this is not recommended if the wart is located in sensitive areas like the area around the mouth and eyes. In this case, other method of wart treatment is done like cutting it off.
Everybody can get this type of wart so no one is safe from it. However, this doesn’t mean that it can’t be prevented. Cleanliness in one’s body and habits would always work in keeping not only these kinds of warts away. And keeping the body strong and healthy can do wonders in preventing the occurrence of filiform warts.
