Generally, there are four types of warts that thrive among people; the Common warts, Foot warts, Flat warts and the Genital warts.
How Many Kinds Of Warts Are There?
The common wart (Verruca vulgaris) is a raised wart that has a rough surface and is usually found on the hands, knees, and around the fingernails. Foot warts or plantar warts (Verruca pedis) appear mostly on the balls and heels of the feet and also on the bottom of the toes. These areas on the feet receive pressure due to the weight of the body and are more likely to crack open. Flat warts (Verruca plana) are small, smooth and flattened warts that grow in clusters of large numbers. They appear on the face, neck and also on the hands, wrists and knees. Genital warts (Verruca acuminata) are warts that grow on the individual’s genitalia.
There are also some warts that grow on certain places of the body and are somewhat different in appearance than the general types of warts mentioned. These are the Mosaic warts and Filiform warts. Mosaic warts are a group of tightly-clustered warts exclusively found on the hands or soles of the feet. They are plantar-type warts. Filiform warts, on the other hand, are thread-like warts that occur on the face—near eyelids and lips.
The identification of the type of wart that an infected person has determines the kind of treatment that he or she must undergo so that the complete removal of the wart will be accomplished.
