Kinds Of Warts

There are four common kinds of warts. These are hand warts, foot warts or plantar warts, flat warts and genital warts.

Hand warts usually occur on the fingers, on the back of the hands and near or around the fingernails. They also appear often where skin is exposed and broken. Foot warts, medically termed as plantar warts, can be found on the bottom of the toes, on the ball of the foot or on the heel. The parts of the foot mentioned are usually susceptible to cracks or breaking open, and so the virus that causes warts can freely enter to these openings.

This kind of wart thrives on open areas or sores and so individuals that have diabetes mellitus will more likely acquire plantar warts. Flat warts appear smaller and smoother than the other kinds of warts and grow in clusters. Even if this type of wart can emerge on any part of the body, flat warts usually show up on the faces of children and teenage boys and also on the legs of women.

Genital warts are passed on to others through sexual activities. This type of wart is also considered a type of sexually transmitted disease (STD). It is a highly contagious disease. Genital warts may lead to a more serious dilemma—cervical cancer—if left untreated.

These four kinds of warts can be removed if the infected individual is conscious enough of his or her condition and takes the matter into his or her hands or approaches the right people (doctors) to help them remedy the situation.
