The Two General Types Of Wart Removal

Warts are generally harmless in nature although they may prove to be very unsightly and irritating. This is why people who have them usually want them removed as soon as possible. They make use of the different methods of wart removal that are available today. While these methods can be many, these are generally classified into two general types: those which can be done at home and those which are done at a clinic or hospital.

Wart removal methods that are done at home include those that make use of drugs or medication that can be applied directly to the warts. These can be acquired directly from drug stores and pharmacies as over the counter medicines or they can be prescribed first by a doctor. The most common of these medications contain a compound called salicylic acid. It acts as a peeling agent that helps in removing the warts from surface of the skin.

Another common method that is used at home is the duct tape method. This common household item is said to be very effective in treating any kind of warts and what you do is put a piece of duct tape over the wart – covering the entire thing. Then leave it on for a week. Remove and repeat until the wart is gone. It is also said that putting a paste of crushed garlic or crushed vitamin C on the wart and covering with a bandage then leaving on for 7 days and repeating until the wart is gone can effective.

The other general types of wart removal methods are those that are done in the presence of a doctor or medical expert. The reason for these is that these methods require the use of surgery in order to remove the warts. These methods are generally considered as last resorts in case home remedies don’t work as this can prove to be painful and costly for anyone who will avail of it. These include cutting the wart, freezing the wart and getting rid of the wart with lasers.
