It also aids in the deterrence of infecting others with other types of anogenital warts by cross-protecting the individuals from the other types of HPVs.

The human papilloma virus (HPV) strain has been connected with more severe diseases such as lung and tracheal cancers, oral and laryngeal cancers but this should not be a concern when considering what virus causes warts as warts are generally harmless, if not unsightly.
